Settling in visits are tailored to meet the family’s needs to ensure that children and parents can become familiar with the setting and the team before they start. During the visits it gives us time to discuss your child’s routines, likes and dislikes and we can share information about the setting with you.

The baby room has cosy areas, baskets and low shelving filled with treasures such as natural play, wooden items and pots and pans are alongside the more traditional baby toys encouraging your baby’s natural curiosity. The Toddler Room

Our toddler room can accommodate 12 toddlers on a daily basis with an age range of 18 months to approximately 2 years 3 months.

As your child becomes more mobile, they naturally seek out new opportunities for exercise and discovery. In the toddler room we plan for activities that are based on the children’s individual learning needs and next steps; however we recognise that children of this age begin to develop their own character’s at Daintry Hall we support all children with a variety of resource’s and equipment that encourages curiosity, co-ordination, physical skills, communication and independence.

Planning is completed with the children’s individual needs and next steps in mind. We give choice keeping toys at a level that they can reach in clearly label boxes.

Messy play, imagination in the home corner, designing a wonderful picture or using one of our different outdoor play areas including a variety of resource’s our toddlers can be found having fun whilst developing all these skills.

Social skills are supported by group play, games, circle time, toileting/nappy changing routines. Mealtimes are a happy sociable time where the children sit with the team members around the table, meals are served to the table in serving dishes and served individually to the children. As the toddlers become more independent, they are able to begin to serve their own food out and help in setting the tables.

At sleep times the children settle down on their own mattress, snuggly covered and cuddling any preferred teddy/comforter. Curtains closed the team sit alongside the children whilst they go off to sleep. Team members stay alongside the children to ensure they remain safe until they wake.

The Play Room

Within our playroom, we can have 12 children in this room with an age range of 2 years 3 months to 3 years old.

At this age we see children are beginning to be more independent, and skills are now developing at speed, full of energy and fun they are be able to take part in a wide range of fun but educational activities to develop investigation, questioning and new experiences. This includes basic Makaton, language and music and movement.

When it comes to potty training, we will encourage your child to be as independent as possible whilst allowing them to take control at their own pace. Mealtimes are sociable times where the children are encouraged to help serve out. Children who still need a mid-day sleep are supervised the same as the toddler room, with soft sleep music for a peaceful sleep.

Within the playroom we begin to actively encourage them to start to prepare for pre-school, so self-selection of activities and independence is encouraged throughout the day.

Pre-School

Our pre-school up to 30 children are housed in the purpose-built classroom unit next to the main building. It is an exciting open planned area where children are able to move freely, make choices and build up the skills and confidence to move happily onto school. Languages, music and Forest sessions are a part of our weekly activities planned and led by our qualified Early Years Teacher.

Our curriculum flows throughout the setting as we continue to facilitate learning through play. The early years teacher has responsibility for the education and planning of the learning, ensuring it is supported by the EYFS framework and Birth To Five.

Our emphasis here at Daintry Hall in partnership with the EYFS framework is to support children to develop confidence, independence, autonomy, resilience, divergent thinking, communication and above all self-esteem and a positive self-identity so children have the confidence and essential skills to embrace the next stage in their education.
