Daintry Hall Day Nursery is set in the small village of North Rode, it is a beautiful grade II listed building within the former village school which dates back to 1835. Following a programme of refurbishment and decoration to create a bright, welcoming environment, we first opened our doors to the 4 children we had on roll in January 1999.
The rural location of the nursery overlooks fields and picturesque countryside views which provide a rich source of learning for the children and is one of our unique attributes of the setting. Our practitioners and children participate in community activities such as Harvest Festival and Fund Raisers along with celebrating our own Christmas Nativity play in the Church for parents to enjoy.
Our ethos and culture
At Daintry Hall Day Nursery & Pre-school we strive to create a loving, homely and nurturing environment that offers the children in our care stimulating play, encouraging exploration of the world around them in a natural & inspiring environment. We provide an environment for fun and learning whilst building relationships with practitioners and peers.
Given the importance of care and education for all children it is vital that our setting continues to develop excellent practice and staff to adhere to high standards of professional conduct. Our practitioners are experienced and ready to help with any worries concerning child development, as well as working with health care professionals to provide the best outcome for every child.
Our curriculum
At Daintry Hall Day Nursery & Pre-school our core purpose is to offer the best service for families and the widest possible range of experiences and learning opportunities for our children so that they may all have the chance to succeed. Our comprehensively planned curriculum entwined with child-initiated play provides a broad & balanced learning platform for the children.
The development of the whole child – socially, emotionally, academically, culturally and physically – is our aim. This occurs within a caring and supportive environment with the provision of the best possible facilities, resources and professional guidance & support. Learning to learn is a particular focus with the intent of fostering a lifelong love of learning. We encourage the children to take responsibility for their own learning, to be self-motivated and appreciate the intrinsic value of learning.
Our curriculum follows the Early years foundation stage (EYFS), Development Matters and Birth to Five Matters. Whereby practitioners follow a statutory framework that tracks child development with ongoing targets, two-year checks and end of Pre-School assessments.
The EYFS seeks to provide:
- Quality and consistency in all early years settings, so that every child makes good progress, and no child gets left behind.
- A secure foundation through planning for the learning and development of each individual child and assessing and reviewing what they have learned regularly.
- Partnership working between practitioners and with parents and/or carers.
- Equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice, ensuring that every child is included and supported.
We follow their four guiding principles should shape practice in early years. These are:
- Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident, and self-assured.
- Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.
- Children learn and develop well in enabling environments with teaching and support from adults, who respond to their individual interests and needs and help them to build their learning over time. Children benefit from a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers.
- Importance of learning and development. Children develop and learn at different rates. The framework covers the education and care of all children, including children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
‘Development Matters’ is a non-statutory guidance published by the Department of Education. ‘Birth To Five Matters’ is also a non- statutory guidance published by a number of experts in early Childhood development and produced by the Early Years Coalition partnership. Using both tools together the practitioners are able to adapt their planning and activities to every unique child in the setting, ensuring they are inspiring and educating them within the seven areas of development through personal interests.
